Plus a link to a gallery with free downloads of print and web resolution images from the race!
I was injured for the 2021 Richmond Marathon, so I went up with a couple friends to spectate, cheer, and take some pictures of so many of our friends and teammates racing that day in the half and full marathon! I noted a few highlights of the day, and I included a link to the full gallery where print and web resolution images are available for free download!
I’ve been having a surge of creativity these past few weeks with drawing and photography, so I’m going to keep this post just super quick with a couple still life photos I worked on recently and wanted to share. Also, I’ve been slowly submitting photos for stock use on Adobe and am building up a portfolio, so that’s exciting news! I may be posting sometime later with a model call if anyone wants to be stock photo famous 😂 Enjoy!
What it’s like to recover after completing a 100 mile race? To be honest, it’s still an on-going lesson. There’s been a lot of rest. There’s been a lot of food. There’s been a lot of walking. There’s been some rock climbing and mountain biking and a few attempts for some veeerrrryyyyy easy runs. And there’s been plenty of time for me to go slightly stir crazy and dabble in some neglected hobbies (see Exhibit A: a blog post for no particular reason!) 😆
Photos and travelogue from the Windy City
Chicago. There is something so appealing about that word, how the letters curve on the page and how they roll in your mouth when you say the word out loud. Chicago. It's almost as if the Art Deco skyline can materialize if you just say the word. - A long form vignette love travelogue with pictures.
Local mountain biking group offers events for riders with wide variety of experience
I don't have a mountain bike. It's probably a good thing seeing as 1) I regularly wreck my road bike on straight, paved, and unobstructed trails; 2) I already don't have time for the bajillion activities I already do; and 3) they're expensive and do I really need another expensive hobby? But McCrae mountain bikes and I'm always jealous and slightly terrified of the bent wheels he brings home from rides or the insane Rampage videos he likes to show me to simultaneously make my skin crawl with fear and my eyes go wide with excitement. So recently when I got the chance to take photos of mountain biking at Lake Crabtree that anticipation and excitement welled up.
The launch of Liz Goodman Photography
Helllooooo?! Anybody home? I feel like I've dropped off the face of the planet recently, and you'd think it's because I'm a total slacker and I'm not doing anything, but hey! I've got exciting news! You know how I'm really into photography? (You knew that, right??) And you know how sometimes I do family or other portrait photography? Yeah, an adventure blog isn't the place for that, so I'm super stoked to announce that my photography work will now be available on my new site Liz Goodman Photography! Don't worry, The Restless Wild isn't going away, but it will stay solely focused on all things adventure - running, hiking, climbing, backpacking, and my usual shenanigans. And you'll still see great nature and adventure photography here! But all things family, baby, and portrait photography will be posted on Liz Goodman Photography.
A beautiful garden setting in the heart of Durham
You might have noticed recently that things around here have been a bit...quiet. It's not to say I'm not working - whoa heck no! I've been keeping super crazy busy with some photography projects! - but that leaves little time for this blog. It will be crazy for another few weeks, sorry, but if you want to do some modeling in the area just let me know. Otherwise, here are some Duke Gardens photos until then. Sorry for the silence, and I'll catch up with you all later!
Playing around with a new camera lens
You know what's super fun? New camera gear is super fun! Y'all, I have been itching to get a super fancy pro-quality 70-200mm zoom lens*. And I finally got it! I picked it up from the UPS store at 5:30pm yesterday and by 5:45pm I was running around the backyard with it. Fortunately a few of you have said you want to see more pics of Ryder, because today that's what you're getting!
