Moonchild Yoga Wear

Checking out new yoga leggings from a Danish company

Has anyone else been doing yoga at home and found yourself “downward, facing dog” instead of in “downward-facing dog”? (Please tell me it’s not just me, lol) So when I got a new pair of Moonchild Yoga Wear leggings from Aktiv, Ryder had to help me try them out.

Fri-yay Fast Favorite: Yoga with Adriene

Following along with “Breath — A 30 Day Yoga Journey”

I’m usually pretty quiet on the blog towards the end of the week, but I thought I might start a habit of Fri-yay Fast Favorites — super quick little posts about some of the things I’m enjoying recently. And first in the series is this year’s Yoga with Adriene 30 day yoga journey!

Trying Stand-Up Paddleboarding at Lake Crabtree and Harris Lake

I have been having a blast taking photos of Wake County parks! Most recently I met up with a group of stand-up paddleboarders at Lake Crabtree. The week before at Harris Lake I'd met Laura Prudhomme, the organizer of the Meetup "What SUP Triangle?" through a meetup with Life Is A Hike. Laura and her husband Mark own Earth Creature which rents SUP gear and organizes events like the SUP meetup at Harris and the meetup at Crabtree. I found them through a mutual friend and after I took photos at the Harris Lake event Laura invited me to take photos at a Lake Crabtree event and try out paddling for myself.

Embracing the Silence of Yin Yoga

Embracing the Silence of Yin Yoga

Confession: it's been a while since I did yoga. I used to practice yoga at least once a week - easily! But then there were conflicts with soccer, I had to work late too many times, it conflicted with the running group, I couldn't find a class offered in the morning or evening, or the yoga studio was too hot or too far away or too expensive or didn't have parking. It was a pile up of one thing after another and eventually I just stopped trying. I realized recently I'd let my practice slide away so I went back to some yoga classes and ended up in some yin practices, and I realized how much extraneous noise I always have in my environment and my head.

The Springtime Itch

The Springtime Itch

Spring tingles. It's like that feeling at the end of yoga's savasana where you wiggle your fingers and toes after lying perfectly still and meditating. There's a gentle prickling as blood and sensation moves through your extremities following minutes of utter calm.

Yoga: Tuning In

Yoga: Tuning In

With yoga you frequently hear mantras like "tune in" or "find your center" or "find your balance." These sayings are splashed on websites and business cards, and sometimes they're even pasted on studio walls in fancy cut decals. And while they can come across as spiritual kitsch, there is a kernel of truth to their sentiments.
